The School of Computing & Information Technology offers a Bachelor of Science in Computing with 2 majors:
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
Overview of Our Bachelor of Science Programmes
- Information Technology
- Designed to serve students who want a computing career that features a mix of technical and business / social issues rather than a unilateral focus on technology.
- Both full-time and part-time students.
- Required to complete a set of modules consisting of a mix of management, organisation, human / technology mudules.
- Required to select an area of concentration, Information Management, Networking, or Multimedia Development, each consisting of five modules.
- Computer Science
- Designed to serve those students who wish to proceed as generalists in Computing or those who aspire to graduate study, research positions or cross disciplinary innovation.
- Full-time students only.
- Required to complete a set of modules that will concentrate on Computer Theory, Mathematics and Science.
- Will select any two modules from any of the concentration areas in the Information Technology area.
- The first two years all students will undertake a common core set of modules.
- First semester, second (2nd) year students will be required to attend a zero credit seminar, where professionals from industry, along with academic staff, will mentor and guide the students in selecting their career path.
- The Bachelor of Science Degree in Computing constitutes 133 credits.
Course of Study Objectives
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer science tools and technologies to analyze, design and develop computer related systems.
- Apply fundamental programming skills in order to implement algorithms and data structures in software.
- Demonstrate skills that go beyond technical skills such as interpersonal communication skills, team skills, and management skills that are appropriate to the discipline.
- Determine the most effective ways to utilize software engineering principles and technologies to ensure that software implementations are robust, reliable, and appropriate for their intended audience.
- Apply theory and skills learned in academia to real-world occurences to explicate their relevance and utility.
- Evaluate Information Technology solutions in order to create value for the organisation.
- Demonstrate attitudes that honour, protect, and enhance the profession's ethical stature and standing.

The School of Computing & Infomation Technology (SCIT) offers a four-year full-time course leading to a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computing with 2 majors in Information Technology or Computer Science.
The aim of this course is to provide students with a solid foundation in computing that meets international standards for tertiary level computing curricula. The curriculum guarantees technical currency, encourages personal development in ethical conduct, professionalism, communication, presentation skills and provides a basis for life long learning.
